Found this on the way down to a run at Studley Park. This morning I’ve shared an MX and now an XM too.

These things are like spaceships especially when in low mode

You still see them on the road in France, but I haven’t seen a running one here for many years.

I don’t see many in Melbs, but it’s a shock that there are any at all. Surely a Citroen die hard.

Occasionally see one or two about where I live.

Some had a curious rear window.

Now you see it.

Now you don’t , er, see another.

You get two back windows, (two back windows doubled up).

One integral within the hatchback bootlid of the car (the ‘normal’ exterior main back window like other cars have), but also an independent secondary one underneath this.

This means that when the boot is open for loading/unloading; the car cabin itself is protected from rain/outside air temperature.

This secondary boot-window can be set to rise in tandem with the normal back window on boot opening; or to stay down. Useful for skiing, swimming, sailing etc when the boot is being used as a work or kit area; as the car cabin is isolated/independent.

Wow. I had absolutely no idea.

TBH I don’t like it. The usefulness of such a thing seems extremely small. To avoid the small and temporary cabin temperature change when the boot is open? It’s only really going to be useful when the boot is open for very long periods of time and it’s also extreme weather outside. Ie rarely.

But damn is that a cool factoid.

It’s curious because it’s a five door hatchback but with the second window, keeps the cold and rain out while the tailgate is open like a saloon.

The odd thing is that there is a large ap erture between the tailgate hinges for any rain to get in between when the tailgate is open , which would run down the pain of glass onto the rear parcel shelf. Not to mention that you ’ve now got a wet window and wet rear parcel shelf. So while there is a wiper on the outside, there isn’t one on the inside one.

I just don’t think they really thought it out.
